Wild About Velvet

Hi friends! We are now officially into holiday season! As I mentioned before, I'm out with pumpkins and in with the trees. I've already began decorating my apartment (Thanks Hobby Lobby 50% off) and Houston has been feeling quite festive for the past month. Excited to share a few holiday looks with you the next couple of weeks and I wanted to kick it off with Velvet + Leopard trend.
I know most stores have had velvet on the floors for a few months now, but FINALLY it is time! Ok so not only am I wild about velvet BUT this skirt (jk SHORTS). How cute is it? I was at Zara a few weeks ago and I knew this was going to be a frequent bottom for me. In the store it was paired with the prettiest cream sweater (similar here) - tempted to buy but I know there are plenty of my own closet options. Wah so this style is almost sold out online, but check in stores there might be a few hanging around! I found a few similar ideas where you can incorporate animal print here and here (love the coat).
Leopard has suprisngly become such a neutral these days. I'm seeing it on shoes, accessories, coats, dresses, bottoms, literally everything. Of course this trend is a balancing act - Pair with a solid or neutral topper jacket or sweater. I would not mix prints/get crazy with colors here. For holiday these shorts pop nicely with this rich burgundy color. Oh and the fact that these are actually shorts makes this such a winner.
This look can be dressed with heels/tights for holiday or even over the knee boots (like in this post) for a dinner/date look. REAL talk though - I had already wrangled my over the knee boots off earlier that day for this post and I figured my ankle flats would be a little more Texas heat friendly. Which I will say that my plain black flats have been a great style for me lately - between these above and my Steve Madden booties I've been able to run around meetings/appointments easily and still look put together #profeshh.

G&G Life Talk - Loved being home and my home cooking feels have sparked. A few weeks ago I made this soup here y'all gotta try. Anyone who follows my snapchat/instastories knows that ChefV loves to kitchen create. I've been keeping up with my workouts and working to maintain a balanced meal prep - especially before we get into holiday partaysss. I made this YUM Taco soup (Whole30 friendly) along with these copycat RXBars. I found them doing a little Pinterest surfing and I have to say they are both Vic and Chayson approved...give them a try and let me know what you think.
Hope everyone is off to a great week!

Black FriYAY + Cyber Week

FINALLY - What we have all been training for. Eh well at least I have been warming up my wallet the past month or so. I need to chill...AFTER this weekend of course :) To be honest we all know the sales have already started/will last throughout the week AKA Cyber Week. Hmm so the crazy question of how in the world do we possibly narrow down ALL the deals?! I've done some prep work this week for y'all and while you're taking that Thanksgiving rest/post afternoon nap check out all the goodies below.
I made a hit list of my favorite sites/stores I'll be checking up on this week.
**Also loving these Gift Guides - Anthropologie ( all the home goods)Aerie, Shopbop, and Urban Outfitters (men's guide hey).

And a few questions to ask yourself before the madness...
  • Who am I shopping for? (Family, friends, boyfriend, you?)
  • Do I have my list? If not Pinterest helps me narrow ideas/inspo down
  • What are the return policies? If you can't make up your mind go ahead and go nuts! Buy it while the sale is hot and sift through it later and return if it's not what you wanted/thought it was exactly
  • Are there any practical needs at the moment - Blender, coffee maker, electronics (now is the time)
  • Gifts for the Host/Hostess? We know with holiday parties on the rise we will need that little something to bring along!
  • Will I save at least $50 if I leave the house? If not - online is the way to go
G&G HIT LIST
Swipe for a few cool/cute Gift Ideas I found below.

GO GET'EM FRIENDS! Happy shopping xoxo

Ketchup+Mustard Classic

Ketchup and mustard...a classic combination right? Those were exactly my thoughts when styling this look. Being back in Texas I am having a hard time adjusting to this temperature with my East Coast closet. Ok not that difficult of a time - I DO NOT miss trudging through snow piles and slosh on my way to work. I DO have soo many great warm and cozy clothes - and womp they are in a bin above my closet. 80 degrees doesn't exactly call for wool sweaters and scarves. BUT I think I've found a happy medium - boots and crops (seen here), Sleeveless Cardi Vests (seen here) and boots + shorts (this post). Today I'm wearing a similar look to a blogger brunch (can't wait to meet y'all) - Loving shorts+OTK boots and you can easily sub out the sweater cardigan with any of these cute dusters here, here, and here. The cardigan is definitely the star of this look and I once again #GotItAtGordmans. The diamond print feels like that festive time of the year and as mentioned above I'm loving the color combo- anything with a touch of burgundy and I'm like yessss it goes great with these Lip Paints (color Bling). Check out my other featured Gordmans post here.

Heading home Tuesday and this year FINALLY having Thanksgiving at home...like home home at Mom and Dad's. It's been years since this has happened and I'm really excited to be back. I am ready for some Mom/Dad TLC and noms. Oh and Holiday snaps! Working on a few fun holiday style looks/tips- Anything specific you'd like to see?

Hope everyone has a great day!

In True Fall Fashion - Plaid+Pumpkins

Griffin Ungar Photography
Gobble gobble next week we are finally hitting turkey week everyone! Who's ready to eat? As promised a plaids+pumpkins post as arrived. A little basic but a whole lot of love haha. Also anyone who knows me knows I love experimenting in the kitchen - Chef V added in a recent Fall recipe (scroll to the end) you can perhaps take to a Friendsgiving , Office potluck, or Family Thanksgiving. You'll want to make this for sure - seriously super easy, healthy, and delish!
Okay style details -To me this outfit perfectly describes fall and possible a Thanksgiving look - What I love most is it rounds out several Fall17 trends. You see Plaid (of course), ruffles, booties, wine/navy hues, and military buttons. With a few more accessories you can easily dress this up (think jeweled necklace or hat), but I like this casual cute style. I found this skirt a few weeks ago at Zara and I've worn it several different ways already - I love how they styled it here with the turtleneck and hat (thinking a great #ootd option). Also side note: I love closet pieces that have memories tied to them. My clutch is a recent gift from a friend. She works for DVF (Yesss and she knows Diane haha) and gave me this beautiful clutch as a good luck gift when I made my move back to Texas. Thank you so much G! It is being loved and put to great use. Thankful for you and your friendship :)
Baked Pears Recipe - I made these a couple of weeks ago for my cousin and I. She lives across the street from me and we had such a lovely lunch date. Another lunch date soon?
Recipe Ingredients
  • Pears ( Oh or even apples)
  • Cinnamon/Pumpkin Spice
  • Raisins
  • Chopped mixed nuts
  • Honey (optional)
Directions
  • Heat to 350 Bake
  • Halve the Pairs or Apples and lay on a small foiled pan
  • Add as much spice - extra cinnamon for me :)
  • Sprinkle the chopped nuts/raisins on top
  • Drizzle honey or agave (optional)
  • Bake for about 12 mins
I'll be making my way back to South Texas this next week. Ready to see the fam and friends back home.

Got it at Gordmans

Happy Saturday friends! I hope everyone had a great week. I was back in the city last week for work and it was great seeing everyone and catching up. More life talk at the end – but overall a successful trip (now who’s ready for Spring?).
Today I wanted to share some GREAT new finds. Shoutout to any Midwest readers – this post is for you. After a recent Trip to Omaha I spent some time shopping around (of course) and found myself in a Gordmans store 😊 Happy to report that I scored SO many great deals and literally 3 complete outfits (shoe’s included featuring in another post) denim, sweaters, shoes?! All the yes to that. A little more than a full blown brunch $ spread and BAM I easily scored 3 outfits. Fine, I'll give up a brunch if that means new clothes haha. Those of you not familiar Gordmans, it is a Midwest Off Price store and the idea is shop till you drop because you never know what you might find. I love browsing and if something cute catches my eye – I know I gotta snatch it before it’s gone. I’ll be sharing in a few upcoming posts all my Gordmans finds. In the meantime I’ll be adding things to my Instagram here and you can always follow along Gordmans social media as well for the latest #trending goodies on the G Blog.
This outfit today I was really excited to share. Lately I’ve been into pairing my booties with crop denim and it’s been a nice way to trans into cooler months without hiding away all my summer denim. These are my first pair of denim culottes – I have to say I’m into it and I was inspired by these looks here and here. I decided to pair mine with this cozy green sweater (similar here) - it’s an easy comfy casual look.  My sweater and jeans are from Gordmans and my shoes and bag are classic closet staples I've had. I love the sweater quality and for under $10 this was an absolute steal! Happy with my purchases and fab fall finds.
Back to life talk – I had such a great week. Sunday I did my usual workout/prep for the week (hotel gym life) and Monday we hit the ground running. Lots of meetings, coffee, and life catch up with my NYC peeps. I finally tried Charlie Bird with my friend Daniel (so cute and the food was amazing, loved seeing you) and a group of my old work friends and I were able to catch up at a close by spot- Juniper. In our small retail world I ran into my old boss during an appointment and it was SO great to give her a quick squeeze (miss and love ya no ugly cry).  Ya’ll also know a trip to NYC isn’t complete without a stop at The Crooked Knife (the cozy spot below my first city apartment) and I loved that it was cool enough for an indoor fire. But don’t worry with all the foodies happy I fit in my workouts #wakeupcall and even squeezed in a new class. Ballet Beautiful had been on my list (a VS Angel fav) and I LOVED it. The instructor was absolute dance goalssss and I am definitely adding more of what I learned into my morning workout routines.
AH ALMOST Turkey day :) Hope everyone has a great week.
