The Blanket Sweater Boos

Booooo AND HAPPY HALLOWS EVE friends :)
Texture texture texture - Seriously I cannot say it enough this Fall. Today I am excited to share with you the coziest trend happening in the sweater world - Chenille. If there is one thing you need to know about this fabrication it is SUPER SOFT - and everyone will want to hug you. Once again taking a blast into the past because chenille definitely had a strong moment in the 90s. The whole whatever grunge style has influenced this season and I think chenille is having a nice welcome back moment in 2017. Cardigans (love this Urban style)scarves, and tons of pullovers are all over stores right now. Like I mentioned in my last post - you'll find them cropped as well as oversized (my fav). When it comes to styling, the V Neck does add a nice layering piece over a collared plaid or solid button down underneath (inspo look here).

Finally I think it is sweater time y'all  - even for us here in Texas. This weather has been beyond the perfect cozy style for sweater weather and this Zara pick I am wearing above is the definition of a cozy day. I decided to dress it up a bit with my favorite slip dress + Burgundy OTK boots - but feel free to Netflix& chill in leggings too :)

When it comes to chenille think velvet yarn, plush pillow blanket, and ALL the warm fuzzies. It's the perfect mix of cute and hey I want to feel like I'm going to work in my PJs. Heck this sweater is probably comfier than half my sleep Tees. You know it's good.  Not only did this pretty Mustard color catch my eye but the touch of this oversized Sweater (found here) is amazing...seriously you are basically wearing a plush blanket. I literally wore this for like 2 days lounging around over the weekend and I'm pretty sure I'll be heading back to the Galleria for the remaining colors.

Saturday's Party Costume :)
Spookyyyy Wine for tomorrow :)
Hope everyone had a great Halloweekend! I had so much fun catching up with friends and dressing up. Chayson and I went to a party at Platypus Brewery (Thanks Sarah for organizing) and it was such a nice chill atmosphere. In the spirit of the upcoming VS fashion show I decided to bust out the robe and dress up as a Victoria Secret Angel ( pics above) It was a fun easy DIY costume adding the wings (AND shorts underneath lol) Chayson was Hef lol We decided going out in robes would be the way to go. Post party of course we ended up at a Mexican food place - Tacos yes please!

Tomorrow I think we are going to cook up some turkey chili and popcorn+this fun wine (oooh Poison) with a scary movie. Hope you all have a Happy Halloween...time for all the treats!

Fall Florals

Finally - I think Fall has officially hit Houston. Fall means plaid and lots of it. Don't worry I have a few posts in the works ;) BUT this season Fall also means florals. Most of us think Summer/Spring - but you can still definitely incorporate dark ground florals into Fall fashion. Focusing on burgundy, black, hunter green, and navy can transition summery styles into more Fall feelings. Although there's tons of floral tops in stores at the moment I had a harder time finding online ideas for you guys. But I promise they are out there. Layering florals under cardigans, wraps/dusters, and mixing heavier textures (like leather or my corduroy skirt) also create a cozy look. Ooh add in maybe a fun scarf too-loving this Anthro Plaid and Floral find here! Also obsessed with this floral top+leather leggings here.
Finally I think the weather is getting cooler ish here in Houston - although the day I shot this look it was not the most breezy. Lol I had a lot of fun inching those over the knee boots off...It may have taken a few minutes #struggles. I found these a few seasons ago from Guess - they have come out of the closet for a little pre-weather prep. I also have a lot of other options linked at the end for ideas. Speaking of Fall - a few of the girls from work and I did a fun Pumpkin workout at Whole Foods yesterday. We lifted pumpkins instead of weights and yesss I am feeling that burn today. So much fun with Bombshell Bootcamp AND I was able to hit up my groceries after haiii. Cleaned and cozied up this weekend - this whole Danish Hygge life sparked my major chill weekend status. Who doesn't love cozy blankets, warm drinks, and movies? The Danes are definitely on to something :)
This morning I did my Pilates class and caught up with a girlfriend over coffee (loved seeing her finally lol)...So excited for next Halloweekenddd tonight thinking Chayson and I will complete our Halloween costumes!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Usually when I think of pearls – pretty comes to mind (prev post here). In this look I love the pearlsand lace mixed with destruction. This post was inspired by nonother than a little Pinterest surfing 😊 As I mentioned in my last couple of posts I was in a bit of a closet rut and these pins here and here sparked this look. A black base (top+bottom) along with a statement piece (denim jacket) was a pretty easy/ I guess you could say “cool” look to achieve. This season I would have to say that two of my recent most worn pieces are in this post - A black slip dress and of course this adorable pearl denim jacket. Wait where's the dress??? A little closet improv and I tucked this lacey dress right on in. I wanted a pretty lace cami but hey this works just fine. I've worn this slip dress under a blazer, under a shear dress (as an actual slip), and now as a lace cami :)
The real star of my look is definitely this oversized denim jacket. Let me tell you it has earned its keep for sure in my closet and it was SUCH a steal! I was shopping around and found it for $29 – it is a juniors label I believe and MUCH less than a few of the contemporary labels I've seen. I absolutely loved this look but with denim and pearls being such a trend of the moment I wasn't sure if I wanted to fully commit to the price. Happy with my get the look find. During our last trip out to LA this jacket was the perfect outfit completer. The market buildings were freezing and I was wrapped up all week. The whole oversized style is definitely one of this Fall’s look of the moments as well. My jacket is a size small but sized up in the fit. I like the cozy oversized feeling – everything I see these days is either cropped or oversized haha. I am a fan of both especially these oversized sweaters here and here. Ah and I need Texas to get a little cooler because I am dying to wear this oversized Chenille sweater I bought here a few weeks ago!
Life updates – I’ll be hanging out in Houston for the next few weeks and happy to take a travel rest. It’s been a busy few weeks between LA and NY. But of course I absolutely loveddd spending last week in my old neighborhood. It was nice catching up with all the girlfriends (cheers), shopping all the places, and visiting my favorite spots. The Crooked Knife (ALL TIME FAV), Sweetgreen, Culture Espresso+IrvingFarm Roasters made the list along with newcomers Sel Rrose (do it for the gram), De Maria, and Honeybrains (lol at the name). My workout girls and I tried SweatShed (HIIT and omg still sore) and I was able to make it to a couple of my favorite Dance classes at my old gym. The Aggies won and we had a nice chill night complete with facemasks and vino. Griffin and I were able to get some great fall style snaps -and loved spending Sunday in Central Park- we got our hill walk workout on haha.
Now that I am back for a bit I am excited to continue to get to know my home in Houston and spend some time in the city. Any must try places please send my way! Chayson and I have some exploring to do – especially with the Fall breeze we are having 😊 Oh and thank you to my new friend Kristine for these style snaps. We were friends/ blog supporters on Instagram before I moved and what a small world – she lives a few floors down from me.  Yay new friends and Houston weekends!

90s Child

Shoutout to all my 90s children out there! Repping since 1991 hollaaa. Ooh the 90s - the decade of boy bands, SPICE girls (literally thought I was one #posh) smelly markers, gameboys, ferbies, jelly sandals, andddd last but not least tie-dye. Bits of style from past decades (70s boho chic, 80s rocker, 90s grunge/pop) are all making their way back. Summer 2017 welcomed back the tie-dye trend and has continued into Back to School/Fall 17. Going into this season I noticed tons of cute tie tops in tie-dye washes. Crazy how we are already in October, but with Texas temperatures I’m able to squeeze a longer life out of this short sleeve tie tee here in Houston.
I feel like this trend is still in the early stages but after spending this past week in LA I saw lots of tie, twists, and pastel dyes going into Spring18 (I know, I know... we just got to Fall).   Tie fronts and wrap (surplus) tops are also continuing to make their way into the next season as well. Personally I really like these styles- they sit just waist level without having to tuck the front in or mess with all that - Perfect to pair with high-waisted denim too!
For me, this trend is hit or miss - it was the jewel tones won me over. I chose this pretty green but there were also really rich navy and plum washes too. I know I’ve mentioned this before but seriously olive has got to be one of my all time favorite colors to wear :)
Also how about this serious denim moment we are having? Statement jeans are here to stay (prev post) and I think I’ve worn these jeans like 10 times already. They are by Romeo andJuliet...the sizing is Sm-Lg and I gotta say I love that they took the guess work out of it. The side stud details have received so many compliments! These jeans+backpack have been in the outfit rotations. If you follow my snapchat/insta stories you see them frequent my #OOTD snaps :)
With all the market travel I was on the hunt for a leather backpack - I wanted to to be more of a handbag cross vs. complete first day of school style. It has been a saver with all my crazy papers and computer everywhere but to be honest I think need to find a larger backpack. Currently on the hunt if anyone has any suggestions. It was the perfect size and then somehow my whole life ended up making its way in there haha.
SERIOUSLY LOVE this V necklace I got last Christmas - Thanks Santa ( I think he found it at Topshop) Similar linked below.

Pattern Bar LA - SO cute and close to market. All the drinks are named after designers. I had a couple of McQueens ;)
Excited to be making my way back to the Northeast this week! I'll be back in NYC for work and I can't wait to spend some time in the city this fall. Ready for cool crisp air (minus the occasional city smells lol), Central Park leaves dressed to impress, and to see all my peeps again. As for this weekend - lots of relaxing, recharging, and also getting all the things done. We got this! Shooting a few more fall looks today, so excited to share with you :)
