InstaLately

Happy ALMOST FriYAY! I wanted to share some snaps lately from my Instagram feed. Sometimes I can't always just bust out an outfit post...girl's gotta hustle to snap some photos!  So it's always easier for me to share bits and pieces from my Instagram :) I am so excited about this weekend, Sunday is going to be gorgeous sunny and 75! That will be a shooting day and I cannot wait to have new Spring trends up for you all...I might even have another makeup tutorial in the works as well! A lot of you really seemed to enjoy the beauty/hair bits of my blog so I want to try to add more beauty content to G&G.

Above, I rounded up my April favorites! These looks are great during the transitional season. Ok, not for my Texas gals (it's just hot there), butttt here in the city we are experiencing lots of ups and downs when it comes to temperature. Check out the full posts for Look #1, Look #2, and Look #3.

Umm ok these sandals are the CUTEST. I found them on JustFab.com. Embellished sandals are such a huge trend right now. It's funny how we go from statement necklaces to statement sandals. Hey I definitely don't mind the bling. And these are a nice alternative to the sold out Jcrew Camden Sandals. I found this Clare Vivier clutch awhile back...it was just wayyy too appropriate for how I feel at the moment. SPRING IS HERE!

I was so proud of my Elsa Braid I pulled off last week. Finally after watching this video like 4 times I think I got it! Inspo comes from the lovely Kirsten Zellers and Amber Fillerup Clark. Their braids are on pointtttt <3 I want to to try more of these looks...I had no idea there were so many different types/styles. I just knew french, fishtail, and "regular" haha

AH both of these images were from last weekend. My beautiful friend below is now a MRS. and it was such an honor to be by her side. She truly is a gem and I cannot wait for our NYC summer adventure! Girl's weekend haiiiii <3

Both of these pictures were work inspired. I wore this outfit above to the office last week and it's such an easy quick look. LBDs save our lives ladies...everyone should have one for a quick what do I wear fix. The last image came from an afternoon out and about. Everyone is just so chic...love all the apt decor inspiration during market.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Denim + Denim + Elsa Braid

I don't know about you but I am absolutely loving the Spring 2015 trends! I know every year it's the same festival/crop/crochet story, but this year to me seems more memorable. Fringe, Pom poms, Tassels, Kimonos, Denim+Denim, Overalls, Matching sets, Soft Pants, Cold Shoulder tops...I'm seeing it everywhere and I'm all about it. I wanted to try something new and thought I'd give denim+denim a try. I found these soft denim pants a few weeks ago while I was out and I really like the baggy elastic ankle. This outfit is super comfy and great for weekend wear. I wore it a few weeks ago to brunch and I felt like I never left my Pjs ;)

Lately I've also been practicing my braiding game. I've been wanting to master the dutch fishtail braid. This one came out the best, after watching several Youtube tutorials haha each time I tried to channel my inner Barefoot Blonde and Elsa. I just think it looks so cool! I watched this video HERE to get the look.

This weekend I had such a great time in Texas. The wedding was beautiful and I couldn't have been more relieved to FINALLY get there. I went through quite the airport mess down South..luckily I made it just in time and I was so happy to see my pretty friend walk down the aisle. She definietly got me in the wedding season mood and I have some fun hair and makeup posts coming up soon! Tis the season y'all <3

Jump into Style - Jumpsuit

It's funny how everyone tends to justify a purchase. Some consumers tend to gravitate towards a certain brand or trend. Some people prefer quality and labels over quantity. And some simply buy based on a great store experience. I would have to say I am a mix of all the above. I LOVE buying quality staple pieces and mixing them with a trendy fast fashion style. It's always a nice feeling to get the most out of a lasting piece. For this look I paired my classic LV Palermo PM Bag and Signature Vince Camuto (similar above) heels with my Macy's Bar III blazer and Forever 21 jumper. The most value came from my bag and shoes...but the conversation starter has been the jumpsuit.

Someone once told me that for every compliment you receive on an item, it equals a $10 mark. You know you did well when you can "pay the outfit off" AKA this jumpsuit received about six "ah where did you get your jumper?" questions at work. That equals $60 in compliments and I paid $24 for it...$ well spent ;) Not to mention jumpsuits are my new obsession for this spring. I have three so far and I cannot wait to style them! (Similar styles above).

What do you think about my Mulan Bun? Or as most are calling it the Half Knot. The Top Knot has had it's run and it's about time we update our lazy girl look. I've been seeing this hairstyle everywhere and I thought I'd give it a whirl. It's actually a super quick morning on the go style. Normally if I wear my hair down I like to straighten my ends. This way I only have to do half :) Which is half my morning hair time and I am happy about that! Check out these looks that inspired mine here, here, here, and here.

Wish me luck! I am off on another Texas adventure this weekend! I'll be heading down south for one of my dearest friend's wedding. Eeek I cannot wait to see everyone again...so much love. It's going to be a beautiful weekend. Hope you all are having a great day!

Easter Brunch

Hi everyone! I know I am overdue for a post, I know they say consistency is key with blogging. But sometimes it is just so dang hard with life, trying to be social, getting things done, and work. I feel like when I come home all I want to do is workout and make dinner. That's it. Workin girl be tired these days. So thankful for each and every opportunity...I always have to remember that.

Above is the famous Target Bar Cart. I wanted it for SO LONG and finally gave in a few months ago before I moved. It really is a great little cart, and perfect for entertaining. I usually have it decked out with my favorite wine glasses, flowers, and coasters. For my birthday I received the above Kate Spade flutes and Anthro coasters in white for a gift (thanks girllll).

Soo I know Easter weekend was a good three weeks ago. But I still wanted to share some snaps and recipes from brunch. I thought this year it would be fun to host a brunch in my little East Egg apt...A play on The Great Gatsby since I live on the Eastside of NYC. (Great Gatsby version HERE). A friend and I began our Easter morning with Mass at St. Agnes Church in midtown and then made our way back to my place to prep the feast! I gave up coffee for lent and for so some reason I thought drinking a HUGE cup before mass would be a good idea...it wasn't I'll just say that :/ My tummy finally snapped out of it and we were ready to celebrate. Below I linked everything we made via Pinterest so you can give them a go! Everything was beyond delicious...we were quite proud.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend <3

But First... Celfie

Well that's annoying...I finished writing this post. My Wifi kicked me off and nowww I am starting over. K cool. Anyways...this has been a non-stop week. I am ready for a very large chill pill and girl time with my TX bestie. She's coming to the city and I can't wait for sushi night, brunch at the Biergarten, and Sunday British Tea in West Village. I thought we would try a few of my favorite places. AH SO EXCITED. We are very much overdue for a major catch up session. It's weird how being an "adult" makes you work at friendships. If you want to talk or see each other it's like an event to just be like haiiii tell me your life. So I can't wait for tomorrow. And we get to wear jeans to work...thinking of busting out my favorite white jeans .

I was so excited when I finally found this TargetStyle Celfie tee. I've literally seen it everywhere and $12.99 is such a steal! I snatched it up last month in Texas along with this Just Fab Clutch. I don't have any stripe bags/clutches and y'all know how I feel about my stripes. It was on sale for half off hollaaa. Since we aren't quite into rooftop weather here, I decided to pair my tee with my furry Cwonder vest for a little added warmth (ah RIP Cwonder)

Nerdy story about my Calvin heels...I have this weird sentimental attachment to them. Back when I was a college kidded I needed "business attire" for an organization in business school. I was like um. what does that entail? Luckily, my mom found these guys on sale at Macy's and I wore them to EVERYTHING. Every presentation, career fair, interview, BSC event, retailing assoc, you get the picture. They are comfy (chunky heel for the win) and I still slip em on every now and then. Love the classic black patent look. I linked similar styles above :)

#celfie will definitely be the appropriate hashtag for the weekend. Taken it back to the college days with my girlfrennn Brit <3 Hope you all have a great weekend.

Brooklyn - Bridges & Brews

Hi Everyone! Today's post is going to be a 2 in 1 kind of post. The first part is a style snippet and the second part is about my Brooklyn tourist day. First of all this was taken 2 weeks ago and it was beyond freezing on the Brooklyn Bridge...I really needed a heavier coat haha it actually started snowing a little bit and Chayson and I were not ready for that (seriously...it's March already). This coat is the exact same coat I am wearing in my Chocolate Stripes post, but in camel (mom ordered it like 3 years ago) and I love it! It's comfy and super soft faux fur and has a weatherproof reversible side as well. Since winter is basically over I had a hard time finding a similar look...all the stores have their Spring deliveries on the floor. It's about time!

This Leopard sweater (similar here and here) was such a great find. I think it's such a cute transitional piece. I can add springy mint/pink accessories (like these mint Tory Burch and Rebecca Minkoff clutches ) to liven it up and still keep warm while the weather is deciding what in the world it wants to do. My camel boots are Steve Madden and I found a similar darker boot HERE. If you are lucky you might be able to snatch a good deal on riding boots...they should all be tremendously marked down at this point.

PART 2 - HAPPY 2 Years <333

HAPPY 2 Years to this silly guy! We wanted to do something fun and touristy... and walking the Brooklyn Bridge made the bucket list cut! It was COLD but totally worth it. We took the 6 train down to City Hall and began our walk from there. Ah you can find some of the most gorgeous views of the skyline, the Williamsburg Bridge, and The Freedom Tower. I always get chills when I see the Freedom Tower. I still have I cannot believe I live here moments and this was definitely one of them.

Chayson and I had took TONS of selfies and had mini photo shoots of the buildings/with the buildings (along with everyone else) on the way. When we finally made it across we walked what we could, gave in, and took a cab to Williamsburg. I had been dying to take him to Radegast Hall & Beirgarten. If you haven't been there it's amazing (like all the food here). The beef tartar and sausages are delicious...true german cookin! It's a pretty airy space and the atmosphere is a lot fun. Afterwards we walked around, explored, and eventually stopped for sangria at The Fat Goose which was quite refreshing. Check out our snaps below :)

We both had such a fun day, and it was a great way to begin our second year (woahhh) together. Definitely going to spend some more time in Brooklyn...(INSERT THEME MUSIC HERE)
