Spring Into Marsala

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. It was nice having Chayson in town for lots of celebrations...his birthday, my birthday gift, and our 2 year anniversary. It was a jam packed weekend! I surprised him with a homemade birthday dinner Friday night...featuring some of these Pinterest recipes here, here, and here (try them they came out amazing!). Saturday we walked the Brooklyn Bridge (style and day post coming soon), had dinner at The Black Ant, and went to Sleep No More for my birthday gift. Ok for all you homesick Texas out there, The Black Ant has some amazing guac and a great marg special soo y'all check that out ;) The shrimp tacos were delicious and everything was reasonably priced. So for those not familiar, Sleep No More is this crazy interactive play in the McKittrick Hotel. It's based off of Macbeth and it is definitely a mind bending experience...we were a bit confused when we left buttt I'm thinking we will go back and have a second go. I felt like we were warped into a completely different time period...very Gatsby-esque. Chayson did a great job picking that out for my birthday <3

So with this post I was trying to Spring it up a bit. It's still SO hard to get in the mood with 20-35 degree weather. I figured lightening up my colors and adding a light weight sweater would do the trick. I'd say the hero of this look have to be my Sam Edelman shoes (on sale at Macy's) and BCBGeneration hat (similar here and here). The heels are really comfortable and I LOVE the Marsala color (Pantone's color of the year). It transitions well from Fall/Winter into Spring/Summer. Everyone knows I'm a definite Kendra Scott fan and these earrings (similar) and necklace were actually my first Kendra pieces. The translucent look is always great for a quick jewelry fix.

My lip color is actually a mix of several different lipsticks from my makeup drawer. I think these colors here, here, and here are closest to what I am wearing. I was trying to match it with my hat/shoes hence the extreme color mixing haha.

Hope you are off to a great week! Time to do that whole Monday thing again..

Pretty Pix

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, ah it was SO nice being back in TX with my ladies. We did some work on Austin lol good times. I'll save those stories for another day...But for today, I was going through my camera and found these pretty pics I took the past month and wanted to share.

It's amazing what a decent camera lens and good lighting can do for your images. I've been practicing with different settings on my camera and trying to steer less from going complete automatic mode haha. Let me tell you I am NOT a photography guru genius, but I do enjoy trying to figure out my best snaps. A lot of people have asked me what camera I use and I normally use a Cannon Rebel xi with a 50 MM lens. I try to keep everything pretty basic and touch up anything with iPhoto. I have a few friends with camera experience who usually snap my style post pics, Oh and Chayson he does that too sometimes ;)

Accessories, flowers, heels...what's not to love? Lately I have been obsessed with incorporating bits of turquoise into my looks. The earrings above are perfect for that. I received them as a gift but I linked similar styles above. Same with both statement necklaces, it's easy to pair with neutral tones as well. Slowly trying to add some color back in. I wore this fun pastel romper HERE this past weekend. I'll have to post the full look soon...when the weather cooperates ;)

Hope you are off to a great week!

Chocolate Stripes

Ok I know wearing furry coats and boots completely goes against my previous post, Spring Fever. I actually forgot I had these pix and I wanted to share my chilly day "Uniform" with you all. A few months ago my team and I were joking at work about how everyone seems to get into a uniform dress code at work. We don't want to mess with anything during the cold mornings and what outfit to wear most certainly does not need to be on that list. All fall/winter I have been living in these navy Zara pants (similar here). I bought them back in August along with a grey pair and I'm so glad I did. They are comfy and have more of a pant structure so I can get away with wearing them to work. This stripe shirt is so comfortable...I stole it from my mom's closet oops ;) Not sure where it's from exactly, but I sure do love layering it with this chocolate furry jacket.

Two Christmas's ago my mom got us all matching faux fur jackets (above). She ordered it online and it's actually from Iman's HSN clothing line. Basically any furry vest/coat is my go to these days along with a classic black bag. This Tory Burch bag has been my latest sale steal for sure!

Gold details...bag, boots, zippers. That is something I absolutely love about this look. Ah along with these Burberry boots. They have the same story has my Red Louboutins (Story here). You never know what you come across in NYC. I just know I was more than happy to take these pretty suede boots off the streets (C'mon they were sitting in a tent! Box and all! WHaaaa!). Crazy.

SO beyond excited to head back to Texas for the weekend. My very first college friend is getting married and we are celebrating with bachelorette festivities eek. Austin, Texas you betta be ready for this crazy bunch ;)

Spring Fever!

Spring is in the air! I'm ready for some sunshine and rooftop weather. I'm starting to notice the city transition from it's dreary winter state to Spring/Summer. The days are longer, (thank goodness) I'm no longer getting out of work in the dark, I see pops of color, and everyone is slowing coming out of hibernation. My summer closet has been in storage and I think it's about time to bring out some color.

I wanted to put together a few upcoming Spring time favs. This Saint Laurent lipstick is so chic. A friend of mine has it and I love the packaging. Mini bucket bags and espadrilles are huge right now. Tory Burch made a version of these Chanel espadrilles...which I could practically live in. I know Target has a look for less style as well (here).  I was at Target a few weeks ago and I love all cute spring styles. I bought a kimono top (similar above) and a Celfie Tee...they actually look really cute paired together. I'm obsessed with these Jeffrey Campbell wedges, SO many outfit possibilities. Boyfriend jeans, rompers, and maxi dresses are on my summer wardrobe list as well.

Hope you all had a nice weekend. I'll be back in Texas this weekend for a girlfriend's bachelorette...Austin pleaseeee give us pretty warm days ;)

Xoxo Gossip Girl

Hello Upper Eastsiders...anyone who knows me knows that Gossip Girl pretty much taught me everything I needed to know about NYC. Blair Waldorf knows the ins and outs of dressing well, dating well (sometimes), and living the lavish life in the city. Today's outfit was inspired by Miss Blair herself. I wore this to work a few weeks ago and couldn't help but channel my inner Waldorf. I also used a little Gossip Girl style inspo for dinner at Butter Midtown. My Texas Gal was in town for the weekend and we had to make a stop at Butter...a Blair Waldorf suggestion of course ;)

I love the this Ann Taylor top. I've worn it several times with a pair of black leggings and boots (similar here and here) and my Gossip Girl look here. I bought it a few months ago and I believe it's sold out but you MIGHT be able to get it in stores. It has a nice tailored look and I can dress it up or down with jeans. (Similar linked styles above)

Today was a gorgeous day in Manhattan! The sun finally came out and I didn't need a puffer jacket, finally. Ohh and I also ran into this guy (below) OMG. Mr. Tim Gunn himself. Can anyone say Project Runway?! My team and I caught him in between meetings on the subway...I'll admit, I was a tad starstruck eek. I remember binge watching episodes at our Lake House back in high school. "Make it Work" Crazy. He was really nice and so cute in his pinstripe suit. Hopefully he would approve of G&G style ;)

Stay Fab.

Roses are Red...

I know I keep mentioning my "Treasure Finds" or "Fab Finds" in a lot of my blog posts lately. But I seriously cannot believe some of the things I have stumbled upon here in the city. About a month ago, Chayson and I came across a Storage Wars type situation in the Flatiron neighborhood. It looked like a flea market with tents and tables everywhere with tons of random things. Everything from kitchen appliances, furniture, old clothes...AND these perfect red shoes. The retail girl in me can proudly say I found these beauties for approx 95% off. Insane. They came with the box and everything! These Loubs have had a little love and could use a bit of heel doctoring, but other than that they are perfect. **Linked above is my Louboutin dream shoe wish list! A girl can dream right? ;)

I cannot wait to wear them...I don't have a pair of red pumps and I think these are a great pair to start with. And the best part is they are super comfy, someone already broke em in haiiiii (and the hard
part is done).

Sorry I basically had a photos shoot with these guys. They are just too pretty, and they happened to match my V-day flowers. Wahh I have so many more treasures to share with you all. What's your fav find? C'mon everyone has one...that Aha moment! I'd love to hear :)

Travel & Navy Blues

Calypso St. Barth Sweater Dress (Similar here and here) // Street Scarf (Similar) // Louis Vuitton Bag (Similar MK Version) // Navy Tights // Burberry Boots - Found these at a tent sale here! I'll post details soon about that (Similar here and here)
OK. I am SO happy to finally be back in the Big Apple. Don't get me wrong, I had a wonderful weekend in Texas (made it for Independence day ha) but it sure was hell getting back up here. Logistics were not in the cards for Chayson and I this weekend.

Friday night we spent the evening in Houston and caught up with a few friends (much needed time), and then Saturday morning we scrambled to make the trip to San Antonio for a friend's wedding. I thought we had more time and then after we made a few wrong turns (thanks Siri) we were an hour late to the wedding...luckily it started and hour late so we were good. And then afterwards Chayson lost his keys :/ All we could do was laugh about all the silly things that were just not working out that day. Overall, it was a gorgeous wedding and it was a lot of fun meeting Chayson's co-workers anddd dancing to country music (dang it's been awhile). Sunday we drove back to Houston to catch my 7pm flight back to NYC. I was checking my flight status ALL day trying to make sure everything was good to go. It's on schedule, I get checked in, and as soon as soon as I sit down and crack open a book CANCELLED comes across the previous on schedule sign. I couldn't believe it, this weather just wanted me to stay in TX a little longer. I'm glad it did though, because we decided to make a night of it. On our way back to Chayson's apt we picked up a bottle of wine and he made dinner (he sure is quite the chef) <3

Monday I was able to get on a 6am flight from Houston to Chicago. The connection from Chicago to NYC was also delayed Soo I spent literally all day in the airport. Chicago O'hare and I got to know each other pretty well, along with the Starbucks. Oh well, what can ya do...glad to be back safe and sound.

Here are a few snaps from my outfit from a few weeks ago. I've worn this look to work and I love the put togetherness of it. It's always tricky figuring out what to wear when it's so chilly out. I was joking with a friend the other day saying this is what I look like WHEN I get to work. There is no way I would be prancing around the icy streets in these boots...Once again, Carrie Bradshaw lied. Sorry to break the news, but she did haha ;)

These Burberry Boots are another one of my city treasures I have found. You won't believe the deal on these puppies! (working on a treasure post soon).

My sister got me these Kendra Scott Earrings (above) last year for my bday. I LOVE them so much! She did a great job with her selection and I haven't seen many styles like them. The emerald is such a pretty color. Similar styles here and here.

Hope everyone is having a great week. And safe travels if you are flying :) Wishing you a trip of zero delays and cancellations (we can only hope).
