Travel Essentials

Hi everyone! I'm soo ready for a weekend in Texas with my hunny and friends. I thought it would be fun to post a few of my everyday/travel essentials. I travel usually at least once a month to visit the homeland aka TX, and you can always find a few of these items in my travel bag.

You all know, I'm obsessed with this Covergirl lipstick (in Kiss) and Elf blush/bronze set. I usually pack everything in my Tory Burch makeup bag since it's smaller than my usual bag. It's surprisingly freezing in Texas (and here of course) so I'll be wrapped in my plaid scarf, oversized jacket (mine is a very similar Zara version), leggings, and black low heel Lucky Brand booties. This is a practical yet put together travel outfit. Plane rides usually keep me on the chillier side so I like to keep a scarf or wrap with me. Now my Roberto Coin necklace is probably one of my most worn pieces of jewelry. If I am traveling with it I prefer to wear it vs. checking it in a bag and having it lost...since we all know THAT never happens haha. I need to get a new bun shaper (I lost mine on my last trip) but this is a super fast hairstyle and keeps everything out of the way for on the go moments. Any busy girl needs her dry shampoo (this works wonders) and a fresh scent to spritz for a post plane refresher.

Hope this gives you a few makeup bag/plane ride ideas for your next trip.

Taupe Basics - THANK YOU

First off, I just wanted to say I am SO excited about my upcoming posts. I can't thank my friends enough for their support and encouragement throughout this whole blogging process. A lot of looks are in the works and without the help from my ladies I could not have captured them. My friends have given me style tips, taken photos, shared accessories (hence the amazing handbag above) and brainstormed ideas with me...I can't thank you all enough! Starting my blog I've met and connected with some really sweet girls and I'm thankful for the new friendships this has brought me. I never would have thought that committing and sticking with this could bring me so much happiness. At first I was a little weirded out about putting myself out there on G&G but I'm glad I did and really appreciate the feedback and encouragement from all of you. In a way I think this has brought me closer to a lot of people and it's been fun creating new looks and content. I've definitely explored even more mix and match closet options thanks to G&G. Sometimes it's not always about making a purchase, but styling what you already own...I want this is be a place for you to find shopping and style inspiration.

I hope you all continue to follow along (social media icons are on the top right), and let me know if there is anything new you would like to see on G&G. More looks? Beauty? Hair? Life? Shopping? NYC to-dos? Let me know, I am always up for a good brainstorming sesh. Email me at glossyandglitzy@gmail.com :)

I'll be back in TX on Friday to visit my boyfriend and Houston friends. Wah I need to pack! Excited to be back for the weekend...plus I can't wait to get my hurrr did. I can't seem to find anyone to get it right besides One Two Zero Salon - Shoutout to Alyssa! She is amazing if you want perfectly blended layers and texture. I need some major texture and oomph (y'all know what I mean).

Ok, so I tried out the DailyLook Elite box (free trial) and I ended up with this taupe sweater. I had a hard time committing to the other items in my box...some of it was a little pricy and I think my sale senses can lead me to a better deal..especially here in the city. Plus I really don't need to be blowing money right now, still working off those moving expenses haiiii. So I sent the other items back and paired my keep with soft browns and taupe. I'm seriously in LOVE with this Celine handbag. Sharing closets with a friend, don't mind if I do! ;) I also found this fur stole back in August at a vintage coat tent at a street festival in the Upper East Side ish (60s and Lex). I feel like I always come out with the best finds at tent shops...I found some unbelievable treasures a few weeks ago. You won't believe it when I tell you! I'm going to start a FabFind tab on G&G to start keeping track of my best bargain hunt finds. #poppintagz

Have a great week everyone!

Snowy Spots

Spots, Spots, Spots. I can't get enough of this adorable spotted vest. Of course I went to Macy's for ONE thing (Clearance shoes) and came back with this vest. Glad it happened because not only is it cute, it's SO warm. I've worn it several times under my jacket and it's amazing how warm a good vest keeps you. Lately I've been getting a lot of questions on lipsticks. I normally stick with wine/peachy lip colors, but I thought the pink would be a little something different for this girly look. These Covergirl Lip Perfection lipsticks are amazing. I've seriously been wearing them for years and they stay on throughout the day. My go to color is Kiss (peachy shimmer shade). I'm working on a beauty post so I'll list more lipstick favs :)

My birthday was a few weeks ago and above was my B-Day suit ;) My family came in town and some friends joined us at the Top of the Strand for drinks and snacks...the view is amazing by the way. NYC visitors that is a place to check out for sure. Good music, yummy drinks, friends+fam...it was a great night. Chayson was also quite the photographer and captured these snowy pics...luckily I live close by so we ran in and out to get a few shots...oh the woahs of blogging in the winter.

I really want to find a pink sweater or button down to pair with my spots. Loving this one here and here. What do you think?

Tomorrow is Friday! Hope everyone has a great day.

I'm Back! Toggle Coat Love

Hi everyone, first off Happy Valentine's Day! Sorry I've been off the grid lately BUT it's been nuts around here. Last week I moved apartments (LOVE the new place, details soon), my family and boyfriend came in town, it was my birthday last Sunday, and I started a new job on Monday. So much is going on, but it's all so exciting. Part of moving also means zero wifi until NOW. I'm finally back up and running thank goodness. Behind on my blogging game, but I have a lot of fun looks currently in the works.

If there is anything I love, it's a good bargain. I originally spotted this Burberry toggle coat over Thanksgiving break. The look and fit was perfect...not so much the price. It was WAY out of my budget and I was so excited when I found this Forever 21 look for less. The gold zippers and buttons give it a more luxe feel and for under $100 it's a great quality coat. Get it while it's back in stock!

These Hue Faux Leather Leggings have been great for sweater/jacket layering. They run a little big, but overall they are great for updating the everyday legging.

I hope everyone has had a great week! Glad to finally be back...Any Vday plans this weekend? Tonight I'll be having a romantic dinner with a few blogger friends Emily and Kyla. Also check out my Valentine's GIVEAWAY! Details HERE. One lucky winner will be chosen eeek.

V-Day Cuties

Happy almost Valentine's Day everyone! This year I'll be celebrating with my man and with my ladies. As far as my Valentine... I will actually be spending the holiday with Chayson a little early. My birthday is on the 8th so he will be visiting for my bday/vday weekend. Eeek excited to finally see him (He will be here tonight!). On Valentine's Day I want to organize a brunch or go to dinner with a few friends...maybe see a movie (Mimosas + 50 Shades anyone??)

So all you single ladies (insert Yonce), lets celebrate with a casual day and a romantical night with wine and bad for you snacks (fav kind of night). Take a peek at my post from last year Top 10 V-Day To-Dos. I'll have to check a few of those off my list. I love all of these sweet pink outfit ideas and accessories. I would pair these pink glitter flats + leggings + rose sweater for a fun day with the girls. I'm hoping to post a casual date night look soon! SO be on the lookout for that.

Moving update - We are all moved into the new apt. I'm still situating everything but it looks like everything should be good to go by tomorrow. This second moving round was definitely easier than the first. Shipping was not involved which makes everything much more manageable. I can't wait to show you guys when it's all finished!

Get the Look - Olivia Palermo

Hi everyone! What did you think of my "Get the Look" collab? I teamed up with two of my blogger friends to put together Olivia Palermo's signature look! I styled her outfit, Kyla from "Ky Marie C" is gave us OP's hairstyles (featured here on G&G),  and Emily from "Flowers in Emily's Hair" recreated Olivia Palermo's makeup/beauty look HERE.

This is my take on the Olivia Palermo look above. I went with a black jacket and faux fur stole  instead of the check shirt. Without the poncho I still have a nice look and I'll have to admit I do have a weakness for cozy furry accessories. Olivia is a fan of fur as seen here and here and I wanted to add it to my look as well. I think it gives the outfit a touch of glam. I've been dying to create this look for awhile and I was able to get a few shots of it last week. It's been a bit chilly lately (Juno2015 whoa?) and I was waiting for warmer weather to style this outfit for the day. Shorts are not exactly winter staples but I am actually wearing thin nude tights underneath. All of these pieces came from what I've collected in my closet. Some things are new, and some things old - I'd say it's a pretty comparable look for $1000s less. Sometimes a Get the Look might not be exact, but I like adding my own style. You should too and see what you come up with...you might be surprised what you find in your closet.

I'm hoping to create more looks for less posts for G&G. It's always fun to style an outfit inspired by another.  This helps me brainstorm and think of how I can wear things I already own - differently.  Olivia Palermo, Lauren Conrad, and Miranda Kerr are a few ladies that I admire when it comes to style and taste. Polished, chic, feminine, and classic are how I would describe Olivia Palermo's closet...oh and fabulous. Let's throw that one in there as well. Olivia definitely appreciates the finer things in life along with a sophisticated sense of style.

These are SO cool! I also bought the pearl earrings linked. Take a look at your local Macy's store for the black ones above. Check out my other earring picks HERE. There is also this set of three from Bauble Bar HERE

Hope you enjoyed my first Get the Look post! If anyone has any looks they want to see shoot me an email at glossyandglitzy@gmail.com and I'll see what I can come up with. I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions.
