A Tartan Touch

Sweater - Forever21. Scarf - Flea Market Find. Grey Leggings - Express. Boots - Vince Camuto. Bag - Burberry

You know, there's something about throwing on a scarf and feeling complete. When I find myself thinking..hmm what am I missing with this look? The answer for me is a scarf. I actually found this one at a market in NY about a year ago. It's a soft cashmere blend and perfect for the coolish weather today. At first I thought the tartan might be a bit much with the Burberry bag, but then I was like whatever I like it. Today my mom and I ran a few errands in town and of course we found some great sale finds. All day I was thinking AH I am suppose to be saving my money! But then I slowly began to convince myself that it's all ok because my birthday is next week..right? I'll have to share those in another post.

Yesterday I was feeling like I needed a change. Nothing too crazy..so I went ahead and cut almost a good 4 inches off my mane. I really like it a lot! My hair is so light now and finally listens haha. The inspiration came from AnnaLynne McCord's hairstyle off of Beverly Hills 90210. I am obsessed with her character and basically I'd kill for Naomi Clark's closet.

Earrings - Raided mom's jewelry box. Top Necklace - Roberto Coin. Bottom Necklace - Charming Charlie

A work in progress..

Happy early birthday present! Obsessed with my new MacbookPro.

Soo basically when you are at home for 2 months waiting for your job to start..you find yourself with a lot of free time. A girl can only binge watch Beverly Hills 90210 and pre-pack prepare so much until the actual week of moving. I have some things set aside that I want to pack, but then there's the whole what if I want to wear it in the meantime episode. My blog has never been a huge priority with school and my lack of a nice camera..but now that I have some free time (and a camera) I really want to put some work into this.

THE INSPIRATION!

For those that have visited my blog before, you'll notice the name has changed. The name Linen & Lace never really had a meaning behind it. Basically there is a store down the road from my house called Linen and Lace and I thought it was cute name a few years back when I created this blog (cool?). When I was going through layout and settings I just didn't quite like the look or sound of that anymore. I wanted to spice up my page and give it a new feel...something more me. A few blogs I have been reading have really inspired me and I'm hoping to keep up with it. I want my family and friends to stay up to date with my latest adventures, looks, and finds in NY. When brainstorming possible new names I tried to think of my everyday girly go-to must haves...Lipgloss and jewelry. I always have some type of jewelry or glitzy piece on and I think that just about every color, shade, cream, stick/gloss can be found in my purse. Since I plan to eventually develop this into more of a fashion/beauty blog, Glossy and Glitzy seems like a nice fit.

All of these pretty pieces are from various places: Target, Nordstom, Thrift Shops, Saks, Kate Spade, Macy's, Boutiques, Charming Charlie, etc.

Nars. A forever favorite of mine. The gloss that never crusts or dries...lovely

Hope you all like the new look! I still may tweak a few more things here and there, but overall I'd say this is a nice improvement. Let me know if you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Sundays

Today has been quite a relaxing care-free Sunday. My family went to run a few errands in town so I had the entire day to myself. It was a great day for going through emails, organizing my explosion of a room, catching up on shows, and reading my favorite blogs. I even became a chef and made this delicious snack earlier. It is a lemon blueberry protein pancake nommmm nomm! I was super easy and it was soo good...you have got to try this. A few people asked me about the recipe, so I thought I'd share it on here.

Pancake:
3 tb of egg whites
2 tb of greek yogurt
1 tb of high fiber oat bran
splenda, cinnamon, vanilla

Topping:
Greek yogurt, lemon juice, spenda, blueberries

Mix the egg whites with a mixer until foamy and then add the rest...then cook like a regular pancake and top with whatever you'd like :) EASY Peasy

Top - Forever 21.  Necklace - Charming Charlie. Belt - TJMaxx. Skirt - H&M. Tights - Target. Boots - Tory Burch

This morning I went to church with my mom anddd I was running late! Luckily my curls stayed from the day before and I was able to quickly put myself together. This was one of my favorite outfits I wore to work a few times this past fall. It's polished and reminds of something you would find on Gossip Girl.  The ruffles really give this a girly Blair Waldorf feel. I also like the fact that I can throw on a sweater or jacket for those chilly days (rare). I still can't get over how I am going from 70 degrees and sunny, to NYC snow..blows my mind. Sorry for the squinty eyes..it was really bright outside today.

Love Potion

Lovely Christmas gift from my boyfriend <3
Proud of my photography skills on this pic. My mom is letting me use her Cannon Rebel DSLR...I really don't know how to use it exactly but I hope with some practice I can get better. A lot of the blogs I read have beautiful images, and I would love to have that for mine. Hopefully I can master the basics before I move to NY.

Ok so I had to post this pic...my ring being resized right now and I miss it! This X Crossover Ring is my favorite and matches my Aggie Ring perfectly. I had my eye on it, he did quite well I must say!

Sweater - Necessary Clothing.  Scarf - Forever 21.  Leggings - Forever 21. Boots - Vince Camuto

Bag - Tory Burch

So the other day I was able to try to do a few outfit selfies. It was cloudy out and the photos are a bit dark in some areas..if anyone has any pointers I'd love to hear them. Like I said before, I am new to fashion photography haha Anyway enough about my photography skills..but this is one of my favorite cozy outfits I have worn this season. I have received a lot of compliments on this sweater, it is super soft and was suprisingly pretty inexpensive for the quality. I got it here and it's still available in black.

Hope you all are having a great weekend!

Bedroom Inspo

Today I wanted to share a few finds from Home Goods! It's time for a change and I am so excited about my new room. Most of my actual room things won't arrive until I move, but I wanted to get started on my bedding. Hopefully I should be able to spacebag it and ship it to NY without any issues.

The above images are a what sparked my new room idea. I absolutely love the faux fur look...it seems to add a glamorous touch to just about any room.

Quilt/Shams - Cynthia Rowley. Grey Pillows - Tahari. Center Pillow - Calvin Klein.  Faux Fur Throw - Max Studio

I originally wanted a brown fur throw, but the ones I found online were $150 - $200! I am so glad I waited because this grey one was on sale for about $30 :) Muchhh better. The texture
is very soft, and it has a nice sheen to it.

The yellow quilt adds color, but I also found a plain white down comforter as well to keep things neutral if I decide to switch things out.

Ah I love these glitter pillows! JUST what I was looking for...They were nearly half price.

After our Home Goods expedition I went with my mom to the island house. It was sunny, butttt cold on the pier. I need to get used to this weather ASAP...Tonight there is suppose to be a cold front coming in and even a chance of snow! To all my Texas peeps, bundle up y'all burrr :)

2014

Hello 2014! I can't believe another year has come and gone...crazy how time flies. 2013 was definitely a year to remember. The year was filled with SO many life changing events for me. I had the best last semester I could have possibly imagined in college, turned 22, met a handsome boy, graduated college, interned in NY this summer, met some pretty amazing people, my best friend got married, ended up with my dream job in the city, came back to Texas for a bit, and now I am anxious for my move to NY this spring.

New years always mean fresh starts, resolutions, and a time for change. I am looking forward to seeing what 2014 has up its sleeve. I am so thankful to have this time in Texas with my family and friends before I move. I really want to use this time to focus on myself and TRY to stick to some of my New Years Resolutions.

One of my major resolutions is going to try to stop spending so much $$$. Soo instead of buying a new scarf, I made this one :) I channeled my inner Grandma andd viola!

I was so excited when I finally finished it! I crochet it using a large Q hook and 2 skews of Lion Brand Homespun Thick and Quick yarn. My mom taught me when I was younger how to crochet, but I brushed up on it through this YouTube vid.

I hope you all are having a fabulous start to 2014.
